A full time Department of Recreation furnishes recreational activities year round
including baseball, basketball, softball, touch football, track, golf, tennis and
handball. Hartley Park, located in the downtown business district, underwent a
massive renovation project to return this 100 year old park to its original
grandeur. Most playgrounds throughout the city have also been renovated. Mount
Vernon also boasts a large county swimming pool in Willson Woods.
