City Chamber/Economic Development Board

At the initiative of our Chamber of Commerce's Economic Development Committee, Mount Vernon's government has created a joint Board among the City's administration, the Chamber and Consolidated Edison (our local power utility) for the purpose of facilitating communication among the major entities in the city.  The members of the Board are the City Planning Commissioner, the Police Commissioner, the City Assessor, the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, the President of the Chamber, a representative from Con Edison and acting as Chairman of the Board, the Chairman of the Economic Development Committee of the Chamber of Commerce..

The Board strives to maintain a continuous, open channel of communication between the business community and our local government. Addresses by the Board are a variety of issues affecting activities of government for which business can be a source of support.  At the same time, proceedings of the Board give the business community the opportunity to discuss with government, important issues that affect them.
